Character Info

 New Player Guide
New players who want a Player Guide may be assigned two more veteran players as Guides for their first two sessions, although they may not be the same players both sessions. These Guides will have a interest or connection with the new character to help get the character and player settled into game. Ideally the Storytellers will write some organic way that the characters have some ties or interest, even if its just as superficial as common interest or species. If a veteran player is brining the new player in, they could volunteer to also be a guide. There are two so that the new players gets different perspectives and hopefully connect to different character relationships. As well as if someone is busy, occupied or just doesn't know! Guides are volunteer veteran players.

If a new player opts out of having Player Guides, Player Liaisons, Storytellers, the Game Master and NPCs will still be there to help new players as much as they can.

Character Kit
This term refers to all the costume pieces, accessories and makeup that makes up a Character. Unless barrowed or rented, this belongs to the Player.

Costume
The costume is usually the most identifying feature of your character, it helps you to stand out and should be appropriate for the character that you are playing. Obtaining a good LARPing costume may appear daunting for newcomers but it doesn’t need to be. Many pieces can be thrifted or altered. A basic under costume of brown or black trousers and a shirt with no buttons, with sturdy footwear, and a plain belt, is a good start and can be further supplemented by other attire. Workshops will be held on Crafting your own garments. There are plenty of websites, including that have many options available. There are also many talented people in the group who may be willing to make you costumes. The game sells some items of simple costume as they are found, donated or created. Avoid items of clothing that are glaringly unsuitable such as white trainers, jeans and labeled t-shirts.

Props
The addition of suitable props for your character will also help set the scene and tell more about your character. A good way to determine what, if any, props your character needs is to ask yourself some questions about them. What this character needs to use on a daily basis? If they are a musician, they need their instrument, but perhaps also a journal and quill to write down music. Is there a family heirloom that is important to them? Perhaps they have a lucky charm? Foci for magic users should also be a prop.

Item Cards
Item Cards are substituted for real objects that are too dangerous, too large, too expensive to use or do not have a good physical prop for, such as a newly acquired piece. These may be large items, mystic or simply mundane items. There are also “Loot” item cards, such as things acquired from fighting monsters that are generally intended to be used in trade, and there for would probably be cumbersome to carry much of.

Player Folder
A Player Folder contains all of the paperwork that goes with a character, labeled with the Player’s name and Character’s name, that is put in the Character Box and held by Staff. This is important for everyone as it contains all the information the Staff and Player needs for the character.
-Character Book- is 4”x 5” book with clear plastic pocket pages to slip papers into. It should contain the character sheet and all the important information about the character stats such as spells. This should always be carried on person. It must be presented to the Storytellers upon request.
-Information- Basic rules, Schedule, Maps and Handouts.
-Possessions- all In Game money, Points and Treasures.
