cards, ect) are the property of Tales from the Discarded World and are not to be used or duplicated without permission.
The LARP and its Staff are not responsible for items lost, stolen or damages while playing the game or on grounds.

Above Table Talk
This is out of character talk about in game things between players and or staff. This is important for discussion of boundaries, checking in on player wellbeing, to discuss in game events that may be difficult or upsetting and discussing player goals for their characters. It is important that this kind of talk is respected as it is an important safety measure.
Player Agency
In Discarded World System Storytellers, the Game Master, other staff, NPCs and even other players may not take Player Agency away.
Character Actions: No one will ever be told how to play their Player Character. (NPCs will be under direction but have some freedom too!) The player’s character is entirely responsible for their own actions and choices. Even when there are In World implications from the actions of another character, in practice the player Character will not be held responsible for other character’s actions. (IE: “You! Your friend is a murderer! You’re going to be arrested.”) This of course does not protect characters against consequences of their own actions, however. If a player is having trouble or a staff thinks a player may be having trouble with their goals and ideal character not coming through as intended, they may talk above table and offer some suggestions or use skill checks in place of some role plays to aid in the player matching with their experience
Character Death and Injury: Are always on the table for player character actions. However, it is very difficult in Discarded World Game for a player Character to permanently die unless certain circumstances are met. There is mystic resurrection and the Death Quest to return a character to life. Player character will never be killed out of event times, nor will a storyteller ever simply decide that the story calls for the character to die. These would only ever occur in the case that the player has chosen this outcome. Furthermore, if there is a Player Character vs Player Character conflict, a decision on the outcome of an encounter will never be made without all players involved: such as in the case of a character attempting to murder another character off screen. Players invest so much time, money, energy and love into their characters, this game refuses to ruin their fun if death is not their idea of fun.
Safety Check
When roleplay gets heavy, characters or players seem off or someone is unsure of if an injury or reaction is in game or not, players or staff may throw a thumbs up to ask without breaking the current interaction. Thumbs up for “all good”, a flat hand for “reaching my limit,” and a thumbs down for “stop.” In the case of a thumbs down, hold will be called and the issue will be handled out of game. The scene may be ended with a fade to black, paused or possibly reworked to avoid a topic.
Medical Sash
A Red and White striped sash, arm band or head band is worn by someone who has a medical reason to be completely non-combatant. Do not, under any circumstances engage them in combat. These sashes are usually for temporary reasons. However, they can also be used in conjunction with Incorporeal to alert other players of their medical danger.
Play NICE
The spirit of the game is at its heart to have fun creating a vivid world full of interesting characters together. As such, things that contribute to creating the game world, fascinating characters, advancing the story or having fun are in “The Spirit of the Game.” Actions that destroy other players fun, in or out-of-game, are not. Purposefully upsetting others, aggravating others, cheating, meta gaming and other deliberate actions are some examples. This is a collaborative storytelling game. Please work together and not against each other, trust me, there will be plenty of foes to fight!
PVP
If a player has an issue with another player out of game, neither of them should bring that issue into the game. Player Vs Player will never be tolerated. Please ask the Game Master, a Storyteller or a Player Liaison for mediation.
CVC
Sometimes, there will be Character altercations that just are going to come to violence. Character vs Character conflicts are distinct from Player vs Player in that the conflict should be entirely IN GAME, and have no OUT of GAME factor. In order to engage in CVC, a Game Master or Storyteller must be present and both Players must consent to the conflict and the stakes. The Game Master or Storyteller present will do their best to make sure that there is no Out of Game Factors and that all Players are satisfied. A Note: this is seperate from friendly sparring/training which is generally considered to be using “practice weapons” and there for does not actually damage characters.
Contact
No matter how comfortable you feel, you are not to physically touch anyone unless they give you permission to do so. They have the right to take that permission back at any time. Consent is Key. Please ask Out of Characters (represented with your hand on your head) if your character may touch them. Check in often to make sure that the other player is still comfortable.
Code of Conduct
There will be zero tolerance for any kind of hate speech, sexual harassment, racial insensitivity, or otherwise unacceptable or marginalizing behavior against any one for any reason. The staff reserves the right to correct this behavior or remove you from game if you refuse to curb your behavior.
WE are an INCLUSIVE larp community. We stand for People of Color, LBGT+, people who are differently abled, people of all religions and philosophies, all minorities and disadvantaged groups. The founder is an assigned female at birth, pansexual Non binary person of color. Intolerance and hatefulness will not be tolerated.
Be civil and respectful. Differences of opinion are okay; personal attacks are not.
Please keep it PG13.
Keep it legal. Participating in, suggesting, or encouraging any illegal activity is cause for immediate removal.
No Meta gaming. Keep in game stuff in the game, and out of game, out.
This is a new game run by humans. There may be bugs and errors. Please be respectful and patient as we work them out.
If you have a problem of any sort, please contact a Staff member or Player Liaison! We will help as best we can.
COVID: We will be required to follow CDC guidelines at all times during in person games. That said, Masks and vaccination will be encouraged at all times and hand sanitizer provided where we can.
Storyteller’s LAW:
Storyteller’s word is LAW. The Storytellers keep the game running and are the ultimate ruling on any issue. Storytellers can go so far as to override the rules written here. If there is a legitimate concern from players that a certain ruling is completely incorrect or harmful, they may appeal to the Game Master or the Player Liaison for a final ruling.
The Golden rule of Role Playing games is if any of the Rules get in the way of your story, just ignore it and tell whatever kind of story you enjoy. The Storytellers will be employing this when necessary.
OUT OF GAME Areas:
These areas are considered Out of Game. No NPCs are allowed in these areas. No Monsters, No combat. Please do your best to keep all obviously Mundane items in Out of Game areas. No Play is allowed in these areas.
-The Road
Vroom Vroom. Vehicles are Out of Game, and it's dangerous to play in the Road. Stay off it.
-Parking Lot:
Your Car, Van, Truck or SUV is most definitely not welcomed in game!
-Game Operations Desk
Also called the Game tent, or Storyteller’s tent. A Staff member will always be present to sign in players. During Sign in before Game On, all Storytellers should be there if possible, to complete Sign in as fast as possible. Here, Storytellers are available to answer questions, and help with all Out of Game information. Here, Storytellers also solve problems with players or rules, if necessary, taking problems to the Game Master. This is also where weapons Check is performed as well as all Character sheet related transactions.
- Monster Lab
This is where the NPCs are dressed, made up, made into MONSTERS. They are also coached on their behavior and goals and given their loot here. Soooo much of the discussion is Out of Character that the Area must be Out of Character, but once they get loose...
IN GAME areas
It is required that while in these areas you are In-Character at all times. There are obvious times when Character must be broken, and the occasional slip will be overlooked, but otherwise, stay in Character.
-In Game Camping
If you would like, you can have your camping are be an In game Area. You could invite your companions back to YOUR camp during the Aftermath to tell stories and eat! But remember that being that is it an In-Game Area, it is subject to all Game rules! For privacy sake, No one may enter another person's tent without permission.
- Adventure Field, Quest Fields, and the Paths
Are all In Game Areas. This is where the magic happens. The real Meat and Potatoes of the LARP experience.
-Town, The Graveyard
The Town and Graveyard are In Game areas, however, they are NON-COMBAT zones!
WHAT Do I Need?
Gaming stuff!
-Your Costume and all its accessories
- Weapons and props
- Black or neutral Costume for NPC shifts
- In-game Cup, bowl and flat wear- You want to eat right?
- An in-character bag/Pouch- you can never have enough.
-Pen/pencil and paper preferably ones that double for in game and out of game use.
— A Mirror. If you are wearing facial costume or makeup. I recommend a non-glass mirror.
— Weapon repair kit (duct tape, scissors, foam, etc).
— In-game light source.
Camping
- TENT and all its pieces!
— Beds may be available, please check ahead of Check in to guarantee a spot!
- A chair. So easily forgotten, please don’t be a chair mooch.
- A change of clothes, or 3.
- Extra socks and underwear; take care of your feet.
-Water. At least a gallon a day per person. There is water on site, but please stay hydrated.
- Sleeping Stuff! Sleeping bag, pillows, blankets, camp mat. You know what you like.
- Toiletries (toothbrush, your own toilet paper, just in case)
- A camping light source.
- If you take medication, have allergies, are diabetic, or have some other condition then you should bring the necessary items to treat problems that could arise from your conditions. We’re not doctors and can’t be responsible for your health, but we won’t let you die if we can help it.
- Food. There will be hot meals at the Tavern for a small charge, but we may run out or you may not like what we are serving!
— Snacks. It is wise to pack dry food you know you can eat whenever you want you might get hungry between meals.
— A small back up light source, like a small led flashlight.
— Extra batteries for light sources.
— A small medical kit.
— Garbage bags, keep your food wrappers and debris in them.
