Every player receives 3 Down Times Action points between games. These may be spent on any combination of the following categories. These actions represent a concerted and dedicated amount of time being spent towards these goals. It is assumed that the character is also taking care of their daily needs and maintaining the things that would be required for their advantages, such as guild duties or shop upkeep. However, a player may choose to sacrifice their daily needs for a loss of 1 Resilience or one of their Advantages for a loss of 1 rank in that Advantage for the entire Next Session in exchange for 1 additional Down Time Action as they neglect themselves or their lives to throw themselves into their goal. Some things may take multiple sessions to accomplish, in those cases, the Game Master should let the player know about how many Down Time Actions they will need to spend on it. Generally, these will not create something that is directly reflected on the character sheet but may contribute to helping acquire something on the sheet. All of these are guidelines and may have completely different results when discussed with the Game Master. None of your Down Time Actions will prevent you from being able to participate in between game Role Plays on the Discord Board. DTAs can be stacked to reduce EXP costs.
Research/Investigation
Sometimes you just have to hit the books or the pavement. For each Down Time Action spent Researching, the Game Master may award the character if a bit of lore or information on the subject they are Researching.
Practicing Skills
Spending time practicing can make skills easier to perform, or one might become better at it. For each Down Time Action spent Practicing a Skill you may add a level to one Skill Check the next session or reduce its EXP cost by a one rank if purchased between sessions, this can be stacked with multiple uses of DTA.
Creating
Crafting, building, repairing or other handy work. What can be accomplished in how much time and to what quality will depend on a lot of factors and so be determined by the Game Master. In general, however, a character will probably be able to make something they normally have the skill to accomplish, and it will not cost them inventory.
Socialize
Attempting to influence factions/groups/individuals, partying, making social contacts or just hanging out. The effects of this may vary wildly and will depend on a lot of factors and so be determined by the Game Master. In general, however, a character will probably gain some friends, information, or perhaps a Favor. Favors are things owed by NPCs to PCs gained through role play and Down Time Actions. Or you may add a level to one use of an appropriate Advantage the next session or reduce its EXP cost by a one rank if purchased between sessions.
Spells
Mystics just got to mystic. For each Down Time Action spent on spells you may have performed any spell that the character currently knows without having to expend components for it. Such as the character may create a Healing Potion. The time and resources to gather the components are taken by the Down Time Action rather than the character’s inventory.
Tending to Advantages
Sometimes you need to use the Advantages you have more than just what is allowed during the game.
For each Down Time Action spent Tending to an Advantage you may add a level to one use of an Advantage the next session or reduce its EXP cost by a one rank if purchased between sessions. In some cases, you may actually gain something for inventory, or something else, depending on the Advantage and how it is being used at Game Master discretion.
