Economy

In the Empire, the main setting of the Discarded World, all of the people’s basic needs are provided for. Food, basic lodging, health and education are provided free of charge. As is protection and services from the Guardians. Following are some examples of some prices one might find someone outside to the empire charged or for goods and services beyond basics.

Coinage
"Yons" the official coinage of the realm. One Yon is abbreviated 1Y or 1

Expendable Points (Cards)
These cards are representations of points that you carry inside your character, not actual cards.

Components
Useful parts that can be harvested from foes, can be used to make things, for spells and for trade. The value of each component is the base value of the item added to the creature it came from’s Rarity Rank number. Each is represented by a card, the storyteller or Monster Maker has written the total value on and signed.

Core
For some of those out there who tread darker paths, the market for souls is quite lucrative. "I mean, I killed it anyway, what does it matter what I took from it afterward?" Appears as a clear crystal with some red streaks inside it. Core Crystals are not just valuable for their monetary worth, because they have many powers, See Forbidden Rituals. Also, if simply carried with a character who dies, a Core Crystal may be used to pay the Gate's "fee" rather than the Character's own Core.

Game’s Shop
The Shop sells snacks and items for camping. It also sells pieces for character kits, such as costumes, accessories, weapons and boffer repair supplies. These items are stocked as the game has them and as demand requires. These items can be paid for in Grads or in American Dollars.

Market
Buy, sell or trade goods, crafts and services. $10 per event or $40 per season for a market license. Market license must be displayed when selling. All wares must be staff approved.

Daily Living
These are the sample charges for various lodgings character may purchase of their daily lives. Each of these includes basic food at that level, firewood, ect needed for daily living in that house, so there is no need to figure out additional charges. (Note, that not paying the daily living charges does not automatically lose you the building/room, at first it means you don't eat well or heat it well or things are falling apart. And if no one wants to take it from you, such as a shack, you could probably go on indefinitely without paying after you've bought or built it.) This is just a guideline to give examples of what daily living costs. Daily living costs are only applicable during game time (not any of the time between.) But can be paid at the beginning or end of the session. Remember, living in the woods, off the land is free, and a great way to disappear for a while if you have the necessary know how.

Bank
If you are worried about thieves, or just have too much money to carry, you can put your Yons into the Treasury of the local Mountain Guardian. These creatures have a collective consciousness and possess potent ancient magics. If you do so, you protect your funds from thieves pickpocketing you (or someone raiding your unconscious or dead form!) You receive a card proving you have deposited funds, but it isn’t a debit card. You may only use it to deposit and withdraw funds at the bank, not pay. Only you can use your card as it is charmed with some sort of very strong magic. The Mountain Guardians charge 1-2 Yons per year to use their services, and 1-2 Yons for lost or stolen Member Cards.
